sick Peanut

I have a sick Peanut at home from school today.  He woke up coughing (that fake, forced cough) & saying he didn’t feel good.  He does this a lot, especially when he doesn’t want to do something.  Well, I left him to get dressed while I fixed breakfast.  At 8:20, I realized he hadn’t come into the kitchen yet (they have to leave at 8:50 & he’s a slow eater in the morning) so I go back toward his room.  He’s in the bathroom, coughing into the toilet – that fake, forced cough again – still not fully dressed.  I get him up & into his room, put his shirt in his hands.  Shirt goes over his head, then he takes off for the bathroom again.  Barely makes it.  OK son, so maybe you *don’t* feel good.  Now do you see why you can’t say you don’t feel good when you don’t want to do something?  (Yes, as a Mama, I have to try to point out life lessons along the way)  If you wouldn’t say you didn’t feel good darn near every school morning, maybe I’d believe you sooner.  I hate that he’s missing today with having missed Wednesday, Thursday & Friday of last week & will miss tomorrow for an appointment with his pediatric orthopedic surgeon.  Just for a recheck on his foot & to see how he’s doing with his brace.

Nick has the first day of PT for his shoulder today, I’m hoping he remembers the appointment & doesn’t get caught up at work catching up on his week of being gone last week.  I tell ya, last week’s fiasco was such a pain.  I mean it was great to see everybody (still love the look on Aunt Carol’s face when we pulled up at the end of her driveway!) but it was a trip we shouldn’t have had to make, with a bunch of extra expenses we hadn’t planned.  And poor Nick, going from Detroit to Washington DC to Houston to San Diego, back to Houston & back to Detroit in a 2 day span, getting home at 3 AM then driving for 14+ hours after only about 5 hrs sleep.  We got home EARLY Sunday morning..yeah, we got to Montgomery around 11ish Wednesday night & left to come home on Saturday.  We’re too old to be doing these kinds of trips.  I think that may be what’s going on with Justin’s tummy…he doesn’t do well when his schedule gets messed up.  Well, it’s over & done with.  Hopefully the people involved will see the truth.  That’s enough of THAT subject.

It’s a rainy, cool day here…perfect for curling up on the couch with a warm wiener dog, a warm blanket & a charged Nook.  A supper of beef tips in gravy is in the crock pot (I adore my crock pot!!) & it’s already smelling good!  Going to check on the Peanut & see how he’s doing.  He hasn’t been out of his room since I told him to put his jammies back on & go back to bed.  Knowing him, he’s probably curled up under about 10 pounds of blankets with Big Puppy & Shamu on either side of him & 4 or 5 books scattered around.  And he’ll be reading every one of the books.  Oh, glad I just remembered to reschedule Sean’s physical appointment & our flu shot appointments!  Yeesh, it just never ends!  Well, ya’ll have a great morning, afternoon, evening, night wherever you may be.  And if it’s warm where you are…send some of it this way!  I’m still in denial that it’s actually fall.  I’m still way too Southern for this cold weather up here.  Especially after having days in the 70’s back home.  It’s in the 50’s here.  *brrr*
